Laura Gibson of Metalsgirl, is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Metalsmithing. She lives just outside Austin, Texas in the company of her 9 wonderful dogs and 2 unique cats; Seven, Preacher, Ozo, Clarence, Pasqual, Vincent, Monkey, Clairee, Veruca, Berklie, and Daisy. Oh yeah, and 1 husband named Tom.
Metalsgirl began as a collection of work mostly inspired by a special light and spark that is given to Laura and Tom by their pets. Lucky for them, their furry friends allow them to love and care for them and in return they share that unconditional love only found in pets’ eyes. Wearable art for our pets led to more art for people, and so it all continued until Metalsgirl was a reality.
