Shaesby Studio Tour

Shaesby Studio

Shaesby generously welcomed the Eliza Page crew into his modern studio with champagne, cupcakes, and a big smile.  Michaele arranged a beautiful bouquet of flowers in the center of the office and showed us the succulent garden that lends to the Studio’s creative atmosphere.  After sipping on champagne and saying our hello’s Travis, a talented jeweler at the Shaesby studio, shared a wealth of knowledge about diamonds, gemstones, and the wide array of metals that Shaesby designs can be customized using.

Shaesby led us into his office full of extraordinary treasures, art history books, and handcrafted furniture built by Shaesby himself.  His appreciation for fine design is apparent by his unique collections and his creativity radiates by the way he cohesively arranges these found, natural phenomena’s.  A seashell boldly sits beneath a neon feather headpiece near a quote that reads “let the refining and improving of your own life keep you so busy that you have no time to criticize others” –H Jackson Brown.  His past travels and inspirations line his shelves next to his desk where he creates his elegant designs, integrating nature, high fashion, and his vast knowledge of sculpture.

We followed Shaesby, Michaele, and Travis, from the office downstairs to the studio space, excited to experience the next step of the creative process.  Each piece of Shaesby jewelry is handcrafted in the Austin studio using casting, hand forging, stone setting and welding techniques.  Traditional techniques combined with modern equipment and highly skilled jewelers enable Shaesby to achieve extraordinary results.  Travis thoroughly walked us through each meticulous process necessary in creating a pair of earrings.  Hand forging, satin bead blasting and high polish finishes are just a few of the subtle textures that give each piece a unique look and feel.

Today, Shaesby is recognized for sophisticated collections that fuse art with fashion. Innovative designs in sterling, 14k and 18k gold lend his pieces a unique look that can be worn for any occasion from formal to casual. Each piece of jewelry is superbly handcrafted with the intention of complimenting a woman’s beauty.  Shaesby’s work has been featured in countless issues of Marie Claire, Lucky, In Style, Cosmopolitan, and Self.  Shaesby continues to develop new work representing his creative passion for timeless design, creating bridal wear, custom and one-of-a-kind pieces.
