Celebrity Engagement Rings

March 12, 2013

Oh, celebrity weddings!

Celeb rings!

Whether we are flipping through the pages of US Magazine waiting in line at Central Market or reading all the details on our favorite gossip site, we are all curious.  When I hear of a celebrity getting engaged, I quickly start to Google the engagement ring.My love of jewelry started when I was in middle school. My sister and I would sell Skrinky Dink jewelry to classmates during lunch, except for hamburger day!  Years later, after studying metalsmithing at the University of North Texas I started working at Eliza Page in Austin, Texas. I am currently a graduate gemology student at the Gemological Institute of America.

I’ve worked at other jewelry stores selling engagement rings and diamonds, but I love how Eliza Page provides their customers with a one-of-a-kind ring.  There is no better source for ideas than celebrities who spend an absurd amount money on creating their own rings.  Below I have listed some of my favorite rings.  The marriages may have lasted only a number of hours, days, or if lucky, years, but these rings I will always love.

1. Rebecca Romijn

Ms. Romijn’s husband, Jerry O’Connell, proposed with a six carat oval cut yellow diamond. Mr. O’Connell may not be known for his acting skills (Heartbreaker with Mariah Carey, anyone?), but he will be remembered for picking out one gorgeous ring.  Rebecca has since stacked it with yellow, blue, and pink pave bands.  Stacking colorful rings with small stones is something that anyone can add to their current setting to add color and make it unique. At Eliza Page, we can create a band in any color or a combination of colors you desire in a setting of white or yellow gold or platinum.

Designer Lauren Elizabeth Craft

Approximately $1,750

2. Miley Cyrus

It’s Miley!  Currently, Miley is storing this gorgeous 3.5 carat antique cushion cut diamond ring set in 18k yellow gold in her jewelry box instead of on her finger.   I love when I see more and more people using yellow gold for their wedding rings.  It has a softness that looks great on all skin tones and it allows whatever stone is set in it to really pop.

Scalloped Bezel Ribbed Vintage Style Engagement Ring from Eliza Page

Designer Megan Thorne

Approximately $1,830

3.  Jessica Biel

Justin Timberlake proposed with a six carat square cut diamond ring set in 18k white gold.  I love how this ring has a rhodium finish on it.  The rhodium adds a modern twist to this vintage style.  It’s rumored that Justin picked out this ring completely on his own.  The Suit and Tie singer did an amazing job of making it unique by adding aquamarine (Biel’s birthstone) to the shank.  At Eliza Page we can create the same personalization to any ring with any stone.   Hard to believe JT went from wearing a matching head to toe denim outfit to a red carpet event to creating a classic and timeless engagement ring.

Approximately $6,520

Round Diamond Engagement Setting with Cushion Halo

Eliza Page Collection

Approximately $1,930

4.  Jessica Simpson

18k Yellow Gold with Ruby and Diamond

Eliza Page Collection

Approximately $10,740

Eric Johnson proposed with a ruby center stone flanked by pear cut diamonds.  Mr. Johnson chose the ruby center stone because it is Jessica’s birthstone and also because the ruby is thought to symbolize fire and passion.  A ruby is a great choice if someone wants something other than a diamond as a center stone.  It is part of the same family as sapphire (corundum) and has a hardness of nine on Mohs hardness scale (followed by diamonds which have a hardness of 10).  With it being one of the hardest stones, it’s a great choice for someone who will be active while wearing their ring and wants color.

5.  Blake Lively

Micro Pave Rose Gold Eternity Band

Eliza Page Collection

Approximately $1,790

Former Gossip Girl, Ms. Lively, received this light pink oval cut diamond set on top of a micro pave rose gold band from hottie hubby, Ryan Reynolds.  Rose gold has become a very popular choice for brides-to-be.  Similar to yellow gold, the rose gold shows the beauty of whatever stone is set in it . . . not to mention it’s pink!  What girl doesn’t love pink?  The rose gold engagement ring is always getting attention because it is such a new and fresh idea.  I think the softness of the color makes it a timeless look.  Many of the designers at Eliza Page can make their rings in rose gold.

These are just a few of my favorite celebrity engagement rings.  If you are about to be a bride-to-be, looking for a right hand ring, or just want something new to add to your jewelry collection, visit us at Eliza Page. We will be more than happy to help you create your one-of-a-kind ring.  The possibilities are endless!
