Vessel Two-Tone Necklace

Inspired by sculpture and pottery, my desire to make pieces with more volume that stacked together brought me to these silver beads. I found that making them was a joyous process, and that process produced something luminous. These forms bring up different references for most people I discuss them with. For me the shapes come from my love of sculpture and pottery - shapes from antiquity and modern expressions like that from Ruth Asawa.

This adjustable mixed metal necklace is one of my all time favorites. Often I'm asked, "are those pearls?" as I lovingly slide the beads along the chain. The silver ellipse beads are 10mm, 8mm and 5mm in diameter. They have both matte and high polish finishes
